This week’s featured video of the week is with Dr. Italo Biaggioni who works at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Biaggioni explains that the fundamentals of the autonomic nervous system have been known for a long time however treatments are always evolving. He explains that different medications react differently with each body and that it is important to evaluate the different drugs and how the body is reacting to them. Dr. Biaggioni says that it is important to start patients off with small doses of medication and increase the dosage as needed; at the end of the day, it’s trial and error. He suggests that patients listen to their bodies with techniques such as not standing up too fast, drinking water, wearing an abdominal binder, etc. before or in addition to taking different medications.
